Robert Wilhelm Bunsen (31 de marzo de 1811 - 16 de agosto de 1899) fue un químico alemán. Perfeccionó el quemador que lleva su nombre, inventado por el físico y químico Michael Faraday, y trabajó en la espectroscopia de emisión de los cuerpos calientes. Descubrió el cesio y el rubidio con su espectroscopio. Creo el chispero. Bunsen fue el más joven de los cuatro hijos del bibliotecario jefe de la Universidad de Göttingen y profesor de filología moderna Christian Bunsen (1770-1837).
