RSVP es la abreviatura de Répondez S'il Vous Plaît, una expresión francesa, que traducida al español significa "Responda, por favor". Se la utiliza generalmente para invitaciones a grandes eventos, para poder confirmar la presencia de los invitados y obtener un mejor planeamiento.

Este código, agregado al final de la invitaciones, significa que el anfitrión está solicitando al invitado que responda la invitación, para poder saber si el invitado irá al evento. El invitado debe así responder si irá o no al evento, de la forma más rápida posible, dentro de uno o dos días después de recibir la invitación.

El anfitrión lo utiliza para tener una previsión de los invitados que acudiran al evento.

El RSVP antiguamente era usado solamente para eventos sociales tales como casamientos, bodas, etc, pero hoy en día es usado para eventos corporativos o políticos.
