La novela sentimental es un subgénero dentro de la novela romántica. Es aquel tipo que trata con profunidad los sentimientos, ya sean amorosos, de amistad o fraternales, y en el que, por lo tanto, las escenas sexuales son más ligeras. Suelen tener un aire más serio que los otros subgéneros, pero también suelen ser más realistas. Tanto pueden estar ambientadas en otra época como en la actualidad. Escritores de novela sentimental son Danielle Steel, Marc Levy, Barbara Wood o V. C. Andrews.
