Song For The Lonely fue el primer sencillo lanzado en América del álbum "Living Proof", segundo y único en Canadá y tercero en Europa, sin embargo, en este último continente la canción es conocida como "(This Is A) Song For The Lonely", el título fue cambiado por problemas con la disquera.

Según el sitio web de Cher, Song For The Lonely fue dedicada al valiente pueblo de Nueva York, especialmente a los bomberos, los policías, el alcalde Giuliani y su amiga Liz, tras la terrible tragedia del 11 de septiembre que conllevo a la destrucción de las Torres Gemelas y parte de El Pentágono

En 2005, Song For The Lonely fue utilizada en anuncios de televisión internacionales de Weight Watchers.

Video Clip

El video muestra a una Cher Eterna caminando por las calles de la ciudad de Nueva York. El video comienza en el siglo XIX, en el año de 1800, rápidamente la ciudad avanza en edad desde los viejos tiempos hasta los tiempos modernos. En el video también podemos ver los característicos rascacielos que se han ido construyendo con el paso del tiempo y también las distintas culturas de la gente de los últimos 2 siglos (1800-2001).

En 2002 el video fue lanzado en VHS para promocionarlo en Estados Unidos.
