The Pink Phink, estrenado el 18 de diciembre de 1964, fue el primer cortometraje animado de La Pantera Rosa hecho por United Artists y producido por DePatie-Freleng Enterprises.

En este corto, la Pantera Rosa y un pintor (anónimo, pero parecido al Inspector) compiten por pintar una casa de azul o rosado. Cada vez que el pintor deja algo azul, la Pantera Rosa lo cambia. Finalmente, la pantera triunfa al pintar la casa, y todo lo que la rodea, de rosado. Ganó el Óscar al mejor cortometraje animado de 1964. Este corto marca la primera vez en la historia que un estudio gana un premio Oscar con su cortometraje animado debutante.

La animación estuvo a cargo de Don Williams, Bob Matz, Norm McCabe y LaVerne Harding. Dick Ung trabajó en el diseño, mientras que Tom O'Loughlin en los fondos.

Un episodio de la serie El Laboratorio de Dexter, titulado "A Silent Cartoon", es un homenaje a este corto; el episodio muestra a Dexter (haciendo el rol del pintor) tratando de construir un laboratorio azul, mientras que su hermana DeeDee trata a través de diversas maneras de pintarlo rosado.
