Return of the Living Dead (El regreso de los muertos vivientes en el mundo hispanohablante) es una película de terror-comedia estrenada en 1985 dirigida por Dan O'Bannon y protagonizada por Clu Gulager, James Karen, Don Calfa, Thom Matthews, Beverly Randolph, John Philbin, Jewel Shepard, Miguel A. Núñez, Jr., Brian Peck, Linnea Quigley, Mark Venturini y Jonathan Terry.

Argumento

Freddy (Thom Matthews) comienza a trabajar en una bodega de productos médicos y Frank (James Karen) le muestra el lugar y le explica como debe trabajar, tiempo después Frank le muestra a Freddy unos barriles del ejército que se encuentran en el sótano los cuales llegaron por equivocación al lugar desde años atrás, cuando un barril explota y deja salir una extraña sustancia que deja inconscientes a ambos. Al despertar descubren que los animales disecados, primero, y un cadáver de la cámara frigorífica después, han regresado a la vida, y preocupados los dos hombres llaman a Burt (Clu Gulager) el dueño del lugar que al ver lo ocurrido decide llevar el cadáver al crematorio vecino donde trabaja Ernie (Don Calfa) amigo de Burt y convencen a este último de incinerar el cadáver. Al realizar la incineración, las cenizas salen por una pequeña chimenea combinándose con la lluvia y haciendo que los muertos de un cementerio cercano regresen a la vida, mientras un grupo de adolescentes, amigos de Freddy, se encuentran en el cementerio y son testigos de como los muertos regresan a la vida, los adolescentes corren hacia el crematorio pidiendo ayuda, durante la noche los humanos tendrán que tratar de salvar sus vidas de los zombies come cerebros. La película termina cuando un alto miembro del Ejército ordena la destrucción de la ciudad.
