Trey es el rey de Triforia y el Gold Ranger, quien cuando los rangers lo necesitan va en su ayuda sin revelar suidentidad, en una ocasión, les dice que pronto su zord personal vendrá también a ayudarlos.
Pyramides, el zord de Trey se estrella en Aquitar, los Alien Rangers intentan curarlo pero su constitución física no es compatible con ese planeta así que llaman a Zordon para pedirle ayuda, los rangers van en su auxilio. El Gold Ranger revela su identidad como Trey y para salvarlo debe abandonar sus poderes y su unidad temporalmente. Esto resulta en que le da sus poderes temporalmente a Jason y él se divide en tres partes: el Trey del Coraje, el Trey de Corazón y el Trey de Sabiduría. Cuando Trey pueda recuperarse regresará por sus poderes.
Jason afronta con valentía su nueva responsabilidad pero los poderes del Gold Ranger empiezan a dañarlo fisicamente haciendo que su vida se le vaya escapando al igual que los poderes. Zordon contacta a Trey pero éste aún no ha logrado unificarse, sigue siendo tres.
Zordon entonces plantea la posibilidad de hacer un unificación de poder que incluye una alineación especial de los tres planetas: Tierra, Aquitar y Triforia, sin embargo, si esto no funciona como debe, tanto Trey como Jason podrían terminar destruídos. Trey, al ver que no tienen otra opción acepta. Zordon logra hacerlo y Trey recupera su unidad y sus poderes, mientras que Jason recupera su salud.
En Power Rangers: En el Espacio
Tiempo después, Trey se encuentra combatiendo en Vica (Vayca) dónde Rita, Lord Zedd y Goldar intentan conquistar el planeta, el cual no tiene defensas. Trey es capturado y obligado a venerar a Astronema la nueva reina del mal. Sin embargo, la onda de energía de Zordon libera a Trey y es testigo de la nueva oportunidad dada a Rita y Lord Zedd.
