Vafþrúðnir era un gigante en la mitología nórdica; fue anfitrión en una batalla de ingenio en la cual se enfrentó a Odín. Este último le derrotó, tal cual aparece en el poema Vafþrúðnismál, que forma parte de la Edda poética.
