We Are Standard son un grupo de punk-funk / dance-rock formado en Guecho (Vizcaya, España) en 2002. Actualmente el grupo está integrado por: Deu Txakartegi, Jon Aguirrezabalaga, Javi Leta, D.W. Farringdon, Juan Escribano.

Historia

En sus orígenes el grupo tenía el nombre de Standard, pero a partir de 2008 cambió de nombre y pasó a llamarse We Are Standard ya que el nombre de Standard coincidía con el de un grupo de los Estados Unidos, país donde acababa de salir su segundo disco, así como en muchos otros países europeos.

En el año 2004 los We Are Standard (entonces aún Standard) grabaron un EP con tres canciones que fue titulado "Golden section". Presentaron este EP en el año 2005 al concurso Proyecto Demo que organiza el Festival de Benicàssim (FIB) cada año, concurso del que se proclamaron vencedores. Además de este premio, también consiguieron el de mejor maqueta para la revista Mondosdoro.

Su primer álbum, 3.000 V 40.000 W, fue publicado por la discográfica Mushroom Pillow en marzo de 2006. El disco fue un éxito rotundo, provocando un extensísima gira de presentación (más de 100 conciertos) que les llevó por toda España y parte de Europa participando en festivales como el Exponentes junto a grupos de la escena Indie como Travolta.[1]

Mientras el grupo aún seguía de gira, en el año 2007 fue publicado otro EP: The Mpossible Mixes, disco que incluía cuatro remixes de su primer álbum y una versión de la canción de The Velvet Underground "Waiting for the man".

Su segundo álbum, We Are Standard, también publicado por la discográfica Mushroom Pillow, salió a la luz el 4 de noviembre de 2008. La gira de presentación de este nuevo LP les ha llevado ya por toda España y algunos países de Norteamérica.
