Zağanos Pasha fue un destacado comandante durante el reinado del sultán otomano Mehmet II.

Vida

Fue un prominente comandante otomano durante el reinado de Mehmet II el conquistador, y también fue un lala, es decir, un asesor, mentor, tutor y protectos del sultán.

Era un griego cristiano convertido al Islam, subió de rango en la orden de los jenízaros hasta convertirse en gran visir.

Logros militares

Durante el asedio a Constantinopla, las tropas de Zağanos Pasha fueron las primeras en alcanzar las torres. Durante la caída de Constantinopla, muchos de los zapadores fueron colocados bajo sus órdenes.

Mehmet II honoró la lealtad y honestidad de Zağanos Pasha junto a sus otros dos visires, Halil Pasha y Sarica Pasha, bautizando a las tres torres más grandes del Rumeli Hisari con sus nombres. La torre del sur es la que lleva el nombre de Zağanos Pasha.

Legado

Su mausoleo está ubicado en Balıkesir, en la mezquita que lleva su nombre.
