Es un joven extremo salido de las categorías inferiores del Middlesbrough. El 1 de febrero de 2010 se dio a conocer su traspaso al Manchester City. Hace poco tiempo, el entrenador de la selección inglesa (el italiano Fabio Capello) lo llamo para que jugara las clasificatorias a la euro 2012
