La Tercera Roca desde el Sol (nombre original: 3rd Rock from the Sun, estrenada en España como Cosas de marcianos) es una comedia de situación estadounidense que duró desde 1996 hasta 2001. La serie trataba de una "familia" de cuatro extraterrestres que vienen a la Tierra a observar a los seres humanos, a la vez que pretenden pasar por verdaderos humanos. La novedad del programa fue que introdujo humor europeo en sus guiones, lo cual no era usual para la audiencia estadounidense. Además, la serie fue pionera en crear episodios en 3D usando técnicas cinematográficas avanzadas para su época.

El programa se transmitió en Estados Unidos por la cadena NBC en su horario original, pero hace varios años que no se han transmitido repeticiones. En Latinoamérica, el programa fue transmitido por el canal Sony, subtitulado; y en México doblado al español por Tv Azteca. Actualmente, el programa se está repitiendo en Argentina (subtitulado y doblado), a través del canal de cable I.Sat. En Inglaterra se transmitió tanto en ITV4 como en Paramount Comedy 1 y en Australia en el Seven Network. En República Dominicana se transmitió en el canal Tele Antillas - Canal 2 el cual es propiedad del famoso Grupo Empresarial Corripio.

En España se emitió originalmente en el canal Antena 3, y actualmente se emite en las mañanas del canal Cuatro.
