Freegan

El término freegan designa un estilo de vida anticonsumista que consiste en el empleo de estrategias alternativas para vivir. Estas estrategias están basadas en una participación limitada en la economía convencional y en un mínimo consumo de recursos.[1]

La palabra "freegan" es la contracción de free (gratis/libre, en inglés) y vegan (vegano). Este movimiento comenzó a mediados de 1990, junto a los movimientos antiglobalización y ecologistas. Es parte de su estilo de vida recuperar los alimentos desechados en los contenedores de basura de supermercados y restaurantes. Los freegans rescatan la comida por razones políticas, más que por necesidad.
