La suimanga acollarada, Hedydipna collaris (anteriormente incluida en el género Nectarinia), es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Nectariniidae.[1]

Descripción

Se alimentan en gran medida de néctar, aunque también aprovecharán a los insectos , sobre todo para la alimentación de los jóvenes. Hedydipna collaris es, de hecho, principalmente insectívora.

Tiene un vuelo rápido y directo con sus alas cortas. La mayoría de las especies puede tomar el néctar, como un colibrí. Es común en la mayoría de África subsahariana. Dos o tres huevos son depositados en un nido suspendido en un árbol. Son pequeños, sólo 10.9 cm de largo. El macho adulto tiene las partes superiores verde brillante y la cabeza amarilla y con banda estrecha morado. La hembra es de color verde opaco por encima y por debajo de amarillo. Esta especie se encuentra en los bosques cerca del agua.
