4:20 o 4/20 (pronunciado cuatro-veinte) es un término usado en Estados Unidos para referirse al consumo de cannabis y por tanto, una forma de identificarse a sí mismo como en la subcultura de las drogas.

Origenes y observaciones

Una explicación del origen del término proviene de la historia de un grupo de adolescentes del San Rafael High School, San Rafael, California en 1971. Los jóvenes se reunieron después del instituto a las 4:20 p.m para fumar marihuana en la estatua de Louis Pasteur. Se eligió esa hora porque la misma hora de castigo de aquella tarde se descartó. Por norma, Abril 20 (4/20 en el calendario estadounidense) se convirtió en una fiesta contracultural donde mucha gente acudía a consumir cannabis.[1] En algunas localidades, esta celebración coincide con el Día de la Tierra.[2] [3] [4]
