Biografía
Su madre y padrastro manejaban una compañía de teatro llamada Theatrevue, en Nueva Zelanda, cuando él era pequeño. Después de terminar la esucela, completó un grado de negocios y arte en la Universidad de Victoria de Wellington, (en ingles: Victoria University of Wellington).
En el 2004 Matthew se gaduó de la prestigiosa escuela de teatro en Australia National Institute of Dramatic Art NIDA.
Carrera
Matt ha aparecido en obras como A Midsummer Night's Dream donde interpretó a Lysander, en Colder y en la serie 'Dark Night.
En 1998 apareció en la serie Hercules: The Legendary Journeys.
En el 2005 se unió al elenco de la serie dramática headLand donde interpretó al niño rico y solitario Heath Forbes, el hermano de Sasha[1]
En el 2008 apareció en la película de guerra china The Children of Huang Shi, junto al actor Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.
En el 2009 interpretó a los gemelos Nathan Bailey y Kerry Bailey en la serie dramática The Cut, el mismo año apareció en la serie de acción, aventura y fantasía Legend of the Seeker donde interpretó al antiguó buscador Kieran, quien después de entrar en el cuerpo de Rirchard intenta regresar a la vida a su amada, la antigua confesora Viviane, en el cuerpo de Kahlan.
En el 2010 se unió como personaje recurrente a la exitosa serie australiana Home and Away, donde interpreta al soldado Justin Jefferies, el hermano mayor de Aden, quien llega a Summer Bay sin recordar nada después de sufrir un accidente. Más tarde se descubrió que Justin y su padre Larry estuvieron en un accidente automovilístico. Matthew terminó su participación en la serie cuando Justin y su hermano se fueran de Sumemr Bay para seguir con sus vidas, después de la muerte de su padre.
