Balance of Power es el undécimo álbum de estudio de la banda británica Electric Light Orchestra, publicado en 1986.

Contenido

Historia

Balance of Power fue el último álbum de estudio de la Electric Light Orchestra en quince años (hasta la publicación en 2001 de Zoom). Durante este tiempo, el bajista Kelly Groucutt fue despedido, quedando el grupo recucido a un trío en el que Jeff Lynne compartía el trabajo de las guitarras con el del bajo. Como promoción del álbum, la ELO se embarcó en una gira por Europa, compartiendo escenario en un concierto ofrecido en el Reino Unido con George Harrison (con quien Jeff Lynne trabajaría en el álbum de 1987 Cloud Nine y en la posterior formación del supergrupo Traveling Wilburys).

El videoclip para el sencillo "Calling America" fue grabado en París y contiene extractos del grupo tocando en el Centre Georges Pompidou. Otro video sería grabado para el single "So Serious". El tema "Endless Lies" fue trabajado a modo de homenaje a Roy Orbison y planeado para su inclusión en la edición primigenia de Secret Messages. En Balance of Power, "Endless Lies" fue regrabado y adaptado a una forma más compacta.

En 2007, Balance of Power fue remasterizado y reeditado por Epic/Legacy con varios temas extra.
