NIMF 15

La Norma Internacional sobre Medidas Fitosanitarias (NIMF) N.º 15, creada por la FAO, reglamenta los embalajes de madera utilizados en el comercio exterior, y describe las medidas fitosanitarias para reducir el riesgo de introducción y diseminación de plagas y enfermedades forestales en los paises.

El tratamiento de esta norma es necesaria cuando se exporta a los países más industriales, incluidos los de la UE, Estados Unidos, Canadá, México, China, Corea, Australia y Nueva Zelanda, entre otros. Los países que han firmado la NIMF-15 tienen derecho a denegar la entrada en sus fronteras a las mercancías en palés, cajas y embalajes de madera que no hayan sido tratados, marcados y certificados conforme a sus reglamentos.

La Unión Europea ha incorporado los tratamientos fitosanitarios de la NIMF 15 a la legislación comunitaria mediante la modificación de la Directiva 2000/29/EC, que entró en vigor el 1 de marzo de 2005. En el territorio español, es el Ministerio de Agricultura, Pesca y Alimentación (MAPA), a través de la Dirección General de Sanidad Vegetal, el organismo que gestiona el registro de empresas autorizadas para la aplicacion de la norma NIMF Nº 15.
