Shoot wrestling es un deporte de combate japonés. Desarrollado en los albores de la lucha libre profesional japonesa, el shoot wrestling nació como consecuencia de que los luchadores profesionales, deseosos de imprimir realismo y credibilidad a sus combates de entretenimiento deportivo, comenzasen a aplicar movimientos realistas y golpes físicos potentes, algo conocido como stiff en el mundo de la lucha libre. Dentro de su estilo, el shoot wrestling incorpora también influencias del shootfighting, pancrase, shooto y shoot boxing.
