Vindolanda fue un castrum, uno de los fuertes que custodiaban la Muralla de Adriano. En sus ruinas fueron excavadas las celebradas tablillas de Vindolanda.[1]

En 2011 el Museo Británico prestó nueve tablillas al museo de Vindolanda.[2]
