Buster Poindexter es un seudónimo de David Johansen quien es más conocido como el cantante de la banda de punk The New York Dolls.

Carrera

Después de la disolución de The New York Dolls en 1977, David Johansen se embarcó en una carrera en solitario con dos albums de canciones nuevas llamados David Johansen y In Style. También lanzó albums en vivo y finalmente Here Comes the Night y Sweet Revenge.

A finales de los ochenta empezó a aparecer como Buster Poindexter haciendo parte de la banda del programa de televisión Saturday Night Live. En esta encarnación cantaba una mezcla de jazz, lounge y calypso. Tuvo un gran éxito llegando incluso a listas con la canción "Hot Hot Hot" original del artista Arrow de la isla de Montserrat.

Posteriormente Johansen abandonó a Poindexter y se dedicó a la actuación y a interpretar blues
