El nombre butanol corresponde a los alcoholes derivados del butano (y su isómero metilpropano); y puede referirse a:

  • Monoalcohol (C4H10O):
    • Butan-1-ol o 1-butanol, de fórmula H3C-(CH2)3-OH, generalmente referido sólo como butanol.
    • Butan-2-ol o 2-butanol, de fórmula H3C-CH2-CH(OH)-CH3.
    • Metilpropan-1-ol, de fórmula (H3C)2-CH-H2C-OH.
    • Metilpropan-2-ol o tert butanol, de fórmula (H3C)3-C-OH.
  • Butandiol (C4H10O2):
