American Israel Public Affairs Committee

El American Israel Public Affairs Committee (Comité de Asuntos Públicos Estados Unidos-Israel, cuya sigla es AIPAC) es un lobby estadounidense que realiza tareas en el Congreso de los Estados Unidos y en la Casa Blanca en favor de mantener una estrecha relación entre Israel y Estados Unidos. Se describe a sí misma como un "Lobby Pro-Israel en EE. UU.". Es una organización sin fines de lucro, con gran cantidad de miembros incluyendo Demócratas, Republicanos e independientes. AIPAC es financiado por las contribuciones de sus miembros.

AIPAC se formó durante la administración de Dwight D. Eisenhower y desde entonces ha ayudado a asegurar la ayuda y el apoyo de EE. UU. a Israel. En 1997, la revista Fortune pidió a los congresistas que elijan las "25 más poderosas" organizaciones de lobby en DC. En 2005, el Diario Nacional hizo lo mismo. Ambas veces, AIPAC quedó en 2º lugar -por delante de, por ejemplo, la American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) y la National Rifle Association (ANR), pero detrás de la American Association of Retired Persons (AARP)[1] En 2001, quedó en el 4º lugar de la lista de Fortune.[2]

AIPAC tiene fuertes enlaces con la usina de ideas del Washington Institute for Near East Policy.[3]
