Hasta los años cinquenta, Corby fue el pueblo más importante en Inglaterra para exportar el hierro. En 1978, una de las primeras acciones que hizo Margaret Thatcher era el fin de las fábricas de hierro en Corby. Hoy en día, hay muchas fábricas de otros productos y es el centro de la fabricacción en el East Midlands.
