David Wilfred Abse (1914 - el 4 de noviembre de 2005), fue un psiquiatra galés.

Nació en Cardiff, hermano del poeta Dannie Abse (1923) y el político Leo Abse (1917-2008). Pasó la mayor parte de su carrera en Charlottesville, Virginia, donde fue catalogado como un psicoanalista eminente. Abse fue conocido por su trabajo en la terapia de grupo y la histeria.

Cuándo su hermano Dannie le preguntó si cierto libro de psiquiatría era bueno, Wilfred respondió "si no estoy en el índice, no es bueno".
