David IV de Georgia[1] también conocido como David el Constructor (en idioma georgiano: დავით აღმაშენებელი, Davit Aghmashenebeli) (1073-1125), de la dinastía de los Bagrationi, fue Rey de Georgia desde 1089 hasta 1125.[2]

Posiblemente el gobernador de Georgia de mayor éxito, logró expulsar a los Turcos Selyúcidas del país gracias a su victoria en la gran Batalla de Didgori en 1121. Sus reformas del ejército y de la administración le permitieron reunificar el país y tomar el control de gran parte de las tierras del Cáucaso. Tuvo buenas relaciones con la Iglesia, y promovió la cultura cristiana. Fue canonizado por la Iglesia Ortodoxa de Georgia.

  1. Realmente fue el primero de los reyes de la Georgia unificada en llamarse David. Desde este punto de vista fue David I, pero tradicionalmente se le conoce como David IV por ser el cuarto de ese nombre de la dinastía Bagrationi. En cualquier caso, algunos historiadores se refieren a él como David II, por ser el segundo en ostentar el título de Rey de los Georgianos.
