Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch

Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch, miembro del Salón de la Fama del fútbol americano falleció en la mañana del miércoles a la edad de 80 años por causas naturales.

Hirsch militó en Los Angeles Rams entre 1949 y 1957 y fue parte del legendario ataque "three-end" en 1949. Su apodo "Piernas Locas" se devía a su curioso modo de correr en el que parecía que sus piernas giraran en direcciones diferentes.

Originario de Wisconsin recepcions 387 pases para 7.029 yardas y 60 touchdowns y se hizo famoso por sus largas recepciones incluyendo una anotación de 91 yardas a pase de Bob Waterfield en una gran victoria ante los Chicago Bears en 1951.

Hirsch jugó una única temporada en la Universidad de Wisconsin corriendo para 786 yardas liderando a los Badgers a un record de 8-1-1 en 1942. Posteriormente fue director deportivo de su Universidad entre 1968 y 1987.
