Farfalle.

Los farfalle (plural de farfalla, ‘mariposa’ en italiano) son un tipo de pasta italiana con forma de mariposa.

Su apariencia es la de un rectángulo de pasta dura con borde dentado aplastado por el centro, de forma que la lámina se curva y se hace algo más gruesa. De esta forma, los extremos recuerdan alas de mariposa.

Este tipo de pasta se desarrolló originalmente sobre 1500 en las regiones de Lombardía y Emilia-Romaña, al norte de Italia,[1] donde también es conocida en dialecto boloñés, en su versión al huevo, como strichetti (‘estrechados’).[2]

Son variantes frecuentes: los farfalle tonde (redondos), farfalle tricolori (tricolores), farfalline (pequeño), farfalloni (grandes), fiocchi rigati (‘flecos rallados’, sin borde aserrado).

En Argentina son muy comunes para la preparación de guisos, en este país se les denomina (también por la forma) moñitos.[cita requerida]

En Chile se les denomina "corbatas", por su parecido con el accesorio de vestir.[cita requerida]
