Fósil de la gimnosperma Glossopteris (verde oscuro) hallada en todos lo continentes del sur, dando fuerte evidencia de que los continentes fueron una vez amalgamados en el supercontinente Gondwana

Glossopteris era un arbusto o árbol del género de los pteridófitos fósiles que caracterizó al final del Paleozoico al supercontinente Gondwana, de tal forma es la flora existente de esta planta es el género extinto orden de las plantas Glossopteridales.
