Heterocósmica

La heterocósmica o los mundos posibles se refiere a la posibilidad ontológica de otros mundos ficcionales. Así para Baumgarten, que sigue a Leibniz, el mundo real es un mundo posible y es el mejor de ellos porque contiene la mayor cantidad posible de elementos que pueden coexistir. Las ficciones heterocósmicas son entonces aquellas cuyos objetos son imposibles en el mundo existente, pero posibles en algunos de los mundos posibles.

Lubomír Doležel plantea algunas reglas generales sobre la heterocósmica o mundos ficcionales:

  1. La serie de los mundos ficcionales es indefinida.
  2. La serie de mundos ficcionales tiene una variedad máxima.
  3. Los mundos posibles son ontológicamente homogéneos.
  4. Los mundos ficcionales son incompletos.
  5. Los mundos ficcionales son accesibles desde el mundo real a partir de canales semióticos.
