El Home Insurance Building fue construido en 1885 por William Le Baron Jenney en Chicago, con una altura de 42 metros. Fue el primer rascacielos por el uso de acero estructural en el mundo. Fue construido entre los años 1884 y 1885. Fue demolido en el año 1931. El edificio constaba de tan solo 10 pisos.
