Inchon

Inchon (en coreano 인천;仁川) es una ciudad de la costa occidental de la península de Corea, cerca de Seúl. En 2000 tenía 2.500.000 habitantes.

El hombre se asentó en el territorio durante el Neolítico. Gracias a estar situada en un estuario, se ha convertido en el principal puerto del país. Cuando éste se creó en 1883 la ciudad sólo tenía 4.700 habitantes.

El municipio tiene una superficie de 964 km², de los cuales un 21% son arrozales y un 44% bosques.

Inchon fue el lugar donde el ejército de Estados Unidos desembarcó el 15 de septiembre de 1950 para aliviar la presión sobre Pusan.

Inchon es considerada parte del área metropolitana de Seúl, a la que está unida por un metro. Posee el aeropuerto más importante de Corea del Sur.
