John Boyne (Dublín, Irlanda, 1971) es escritor.

Se formó en Trinity College, y en la universidad de East Anglia, Norwich, Inglaterra. Es autor de cinco novelas: The thief of time (con la que debutó como novelista), The congress of rough riders, Crippen, Next of kin además de The boy in the striped pyjamas, siendo esta última un éxito en todos los países en los que se publicó. En Irlanda se mantuvo en primer lugar durante un año entero. Ha sido traducida ya a treinta y cuatro idiomas y ha supuesto un extraordinario éxito de ventas en diversos países. Ganadora de dos Irish Book Awards y finalista del British Book Award, ha sido recientemente llevada al cine por Miramax/Disney por la dirección de Mark Herman. En España ha sido galardonada con el Premio de los Lectores 2007 de la revista Qué Leer y ha permanecido más de un año en todas las listas de libros más vendidos.
