La ciudad de Khorugh (Tayiko: Хоруғ), también transliterado como Khoroq, Khorogh, Khorog, Jorug, o Xoroq) es la capital de la provincia de Alto Badajshán, en Tayikistán. También es la capital de Shughnon en el distrito de Gorno-Badakhshan. Tiene una población de 28.000 hab. (censo de 2000).

Caracterísitcas generales

Se encuentra 2.200 msnm en las Cordilleras del Pamir (antiguo Monte Imeon) en la confluencia de los ríos Gunt y Panj. La ciudad está limitada al sur y al norte por los deltas de los ríos Shakhdara y Gunt, respectivamente. Los dos ríos se unen en la parte oriental de la ciudad a través de la ciudad, dividiéndola prácticamente hasta su delta en el río Panj, también conocido como Amu Darya. Khorugh es conocida por sus hermosos álamos que dominan la flora de la ciudad.
