László Lovász (*9 de marzo de 1948 en Budapest) es un matemático húngaro, reconocido principalmente por su trabajo en combinatoria, con el cual ganó en 1999 el premio Wolf. Posee un Número de Erdős de 1.

Biografía

Lovász obtuvo su grado de Ph.D. en 1970 de la Universidad de Budapest (Eötvös Loránd). Fue profesor de la Universidad de Yale durante la década de 1990. Hasta octubre de 2006 trabajaba como investigador en el Microsoft Research.

Fue escogido para ser presidente de la Unión Matemática Internacional a partir del 1 de enero de 2007.[1]

Premios

En 1999 ganó el premio Knuth[2] y el premio Wolf en matemáticas junto con Elias M. Stein.

En 2001 obtuvo el premio Gödel, junto con Sanjeev Arora, Uriel Feige, Shafi Goldwasser, Carsten Lund, Rajeev Motwani, Shmuel Safra, Madhu Sudan y Mario Szegedy.[3]
