Sinopsis

De aspecto impecable, bien vestido y atento, nuestro héroe (Daniel Craig) parece un hombre de negocios cualquiera. Negocia con cocaína y éxtasis como si de una mercancía cualquiera se tratase; ha hecho una gran fortuna sin siquiera ensuciarse las manos o perder el anonimato. Pretende jubilarse ahora que todavía es suficientemente joven para disfrutar de las ganancias que ha obtenido ilegalmente. Calcula que en un par de días podría verse fuera del negocio. Ése es el plan, en cualquier caso.

Jimmy Price (Kenneth Cranham), su jefe del crimen organizado le pide un par de favores. La hija drogadicta del poderoso criminal Eddie Temple (Michael Gambon) ha desaparecido y Price quiere que la localice: parece bastante fácil. Al igual que el segundo favor que le pide Price: un asesino a sueldo llamado el Duke (Jamie Foreman) ha localizado un envío enorme de éxtasis. Price necesita un intermediario para llegar a un arreglo y comprar la droga. Dos trabajos más, piensa nuestro héroe, y soy libre. Pero nada es tan fácil como parece. Entran en juego un señor de la guerra de Serbia y un montón de peligrosos personajes procedentes de los bajos fondos para ayudarle y estorbarle, y enseguida se da cuenta de que salir del negocio de las drogas puede costarle todo lo que tiene. Incluso la vida.
