Mangudai

Mangudai

El Mangudai o mungadai era una unidad militar del Imperio mongol, pero no muchas descripciones aparecen de ellos. Una fuente refiere a ellos como las unidad suicida de caballería ligera de los Mongoles en el siglo XIII.[1] Algunos historiadores creen que eran arqueros montados a caballo, que atravesaban el campo de batalla, para luego provocar bajas a la retaguardia del enemigo. Sin embargo, un autor del ejército estadounidense cree que el Mangudai fue un caudillo del siglo XIII, quienes crearon un arduo proceso de elección para sus líderes potenciales.[2] El periodo es usado por los elementos del ejército estadounidense con el nombre de 'Multi-day tests of Soldiers' endureciendo las habilidades de los guerreros.[3]

Los viajeros de Marco Polo usan la palabra Meng-Gu-Dai para nombrar a una persona: "El Emperador (Mongol) ordena a Meng-Gu-Dai para invadir Si-Fan con 6000 hombres".[1]
