Michael Jackson: The Ultimate Collection es un box set de la música de Michael Jackson, que incluye 4 discos y un DVD. Sus ventas hasta el momento son alrededor de 250,000.^[1] En esta coleccion Michael Jackson consagra todos sus éxitos además de varios temas nunca antes editados.

Mucha de la música proviene de la carrera de Michael, particularmente de sus álbumes publicados por Epic: Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, HIStory: Past, Present and Future - Book I, Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix y Invincible. Algunas canciones son particularmente llamativas, como por ejemplo el primer lanzamiento del demo de "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)", "Shake a Body", "Cheater" y el demo original de "We Are the World" con Jackson como solista. El box set también incluye 8 canciones inéditas, entre ellas "In the Back", "Beautiful Girl", "The Way You Love Me" y "We've Had Enough", todas escritas por Jackson.

La canción "The Way You Love Me" fue completada y publicada en el primer álbum póstumo de Jackson, Michael, retitulada como "(I Like) The Way You Love Me".

Rarezas

The Ultimate Collection también contiene varias modificaciones:

• La versión completa de "You Can't Win" sólo estaba disponible en el 12-inch single.
• "Someone in the Dark" fue lanzado por primera vez como parte del audiolibro de la película E.T. El Extraterrestre, y más tarde fue publicado en la edición especial de 2001 de Thriller (álbum).
• El demo de "Dangerous" y la canción "Monkey Business fueron previamente presentada en algunas ediciones de Dangerous: The Remix Collection.
• "Someone Put Your Hand Out" es un single especial lanzado por Pepsi en forma de casette para promocionar la gira Dangerous World Tour.
• "On the Line" era parte del box set de "Ghosts" lanzado en 1997, pero la versión incluida aquí dura 16 segundos más que la original.
• "You Are Not Alone" dura 15 segundos más que la versión que está en el álbum HIStory: Past, Present and Future - Book I.
