El automovilismo Midget es una categoría de competición automovilística que se desarrolla en Argentina y tiene origen norteamericano.[1] Los automóviles de esta categoría destacan por la ausencia de frenos y de caja de velocidades. Reciben el nombre de Midget ("Midget" en inglés significa enano, pequeño, diminuto o en miniatura) por ser autos relativamente pequeños,[2] equipados con motores modificados de automóviles convencionales -generalmente de 4 cilindros, de 1500 cm3, o incluso mayores. Algunas categorías de Midget no fijan un límite de cilindrada. [cita requerida]

Las carreras suelen llevarse a cabo en circuitos de tierra compactada, de aproximadamente 400 m de recorrido, donde se adoptan relaciones de desmultiplicación bajísimas[cita requerida] que hacen que estos vehículos tengan una aceleración superior a cualquier otro auto similar, incluso de cilindradas mayores.[cita requerida]
