Picnic en Hanging Rock (Picnic at hanging Rock, 1975), es una película dirigida por Peter Weir (director de Único Testigo o Master and comander), protagonizada por Rachel Roberts, Dominic Guard, Helen Morse, Jackie Weaver, Anne Lambert, Christine Schuler y Karen Robson. Obra notable en el genero de misterio y fantastico, se relata la historia de un internado para señoritas que el día de San Valentin de 1900 se disponen a celebrar un picnic en la montaña de Hanging Rock, pero tres alumnas y una profesora se extravian y desaparecen. Fue la segunda película de Peter Weir que rodó en Australia en 1975 consiguiendo el premio BAFTA a la mejor fotografía en 1977 y fue presentada en el festival de Cannes, donde se convirtió en una gran sorpresa en el famoso certamen.
