Pyramid es el tercer LP de la banda The Alan Parsons Project, tras sus antecesores Tales of Mystery and Imagination (1976) y I Robot (1977). Aunque Pyramid no tenga una continuidad en la música, la tiene en la lírica. En las letras, a lo largo del disco, se puede apreciar una reflexión acerca del poder del destino sobre las ideas y proyectos de los humanos (simples criaturas mortales cuya esencial fragilidad se hace notar desde la perspectiva global de la historia y del orden del universo). Este concepto se refleja sobre todo en la canción que cierra la cara A del LP, "Can't Take It With You", en el que se sostiene la idea de que la muerte significa la interrupción de cualquier proyecto que tenga en mente para el futuro.
