Raymond Carr

Sir Raymond Carr (Bath, Gran Bretaña, 1919) es un historiador e hispanista británico, también especialista en historia de Suecia. Gracias a libros como España 1808-1975 o a sus estudios sobre la II República y la Guerra Civil española, ha sido reconocido como uno de los grandes historiadores contemporáneos, dando a conocer, al mismo tiempo, la historia de España. Carr ha presidido la Sociedad de Estudios Latinoamericanos, ha sido profesor de Historia Latinoamericana en Oxford y director de St. Anthony´s College de dicha universidad. Miembro de la Real Academia Británica, ha recibido múltiples reconocimientos a su labor de hispanista, entre los que destacan la cruz de Alfonso X el sabio (1983) y el Premio Príncipe de Asturias de Ciencias Sociales en 1999.
