Además del uso de Azotobacter como organismo modelo, tiene aplicaciones biotecnológicas.
Ejemplos de su uso son la producción de alginatos y de nitrógeno en fermentaciones.[1] [2] Azotobacter es una bacteria Gram-negativa.
