Instrumento de viento-metal

El nafir, también llamado añafil, es un instrumento musical de viento morisco, tipo trompeta recta y alargada, parecida a la tuba romana, usado también en Castilla.

Se puede encontrar en la iconografía medieval representado en escenas de batallas, con estandartes incorporados que identifican su militancia.

En la actualidad está aún en uso en algunas cofradías religiosas de los países del Magreb.

Descripción

Se trata de un aerófono recto, cuyo sonido surge de la vibración de los labios del intérprete en una boquilla en forma de pequeño embudo. Formando parte del grupo denominado «trompas naturales», este tipo de instrumento se encuentra en diversas culturas alrededor del mundo. No presentan orificios, llaves ni ningún otro elemento constructivo que altere la afinación o el timbre.

Evolución

Con el tiempo, el tubo largo del nafir se curvaría para convertirse en un instrumento más manejable, y evolucionaría hasta llegar a los aerófonos de boquilla de la actualidad, equipados con llaves y pistones.
